A Busy (and Fun!) Season at Discoveries

It’s been a while since our last update, and wow — there’s been a lot happening at Discoveries!

Back in May, we celebrated Muffins with Moms in the Mustang room, and every classroom worked hard on special handmade gifts for Mother’s Day. Then, on June 5, our Mustangs proudly took the stage for their graduation ceremony. They sang We Are the World beautifully — not a dry eye in the room! Parents beamed as their soon-to-be kindergarteners took their big step forward.

We wrapped up the school year with Donuts with Dads, another big hit with families. Then summer brought plenty of fun — from water play days on the front lawn to bike days where we blocked off the parking lot so the kids could cruise around safely. During Rodeo Week, everyone dressed up in cowboy gear, and we even had a sheriff stop by to keep an eye on our “wild” preschoolers. For the Fourth of July, every classroom threw a party, and our Hot August Nights Sock Hop turned out some seriously awesome outfits.

The Bighorns were busy, too! They enjoyed several bike days at Gator Swamp Park right across the street, often packing picnic lunches to make a full day of it. Their summer adventures also included field trips to Defy, the movies, Roller Kingdom, and even the Zoo.

By mid-August, our elementary students were back in action, starting their new school year on August 11, with kindergarteners joining the fun a week later on August 18. In September, PBS Kids visited each classroom to read stories and lead art projects — plus every child got to take home a new book to share with their family. We also had a blast exploring our five senses, painting with corn syrup, and creating sticky marshmallow masterpieces.

It’s been a season full of growth, creativity, and fun — just the way we like it here at Discoveries.

Until next time!
