Monkeys & Alligators: 3 – 5 years

We break our 4 year olds into two groups so we can gradually and effectively prepare them for kindergarten. We transition your child from daycare into a learning-centered program.

Pre-k progam curriculum

Monkeys classroom

This colorful classroom is for children from 3-4 years. We introduce learning centers for fine motor skills, while our circle time curriculum continues to compound what they have learned in the previous years.

Some of the skills and activities we focus on:

Alligators classroom

This classroom is for children aged 4-5 years, who are ready to immerse themselves in a full academic curriculum. This classroom is not day care, but is set up in learning centers.

At this stage we introduce the children to the teacher table. Each day the teacher table focuses on one subject so that the teacher can work individually with each child. All children are expected to participate at the teacher table.

Monday: Math (numbers, patterns and sorting)
Tuesday: Writing skills (proper pencil grip and tracing) Work sheets for writing lessons
Wednesday: Science
Thursday: Language Arts
Friday: Crafts

Alligators skills, activities and areas:

Bobcats classroom

We have our Bobcats room for when we have overflow from Monkeys and Alligators.

The children in this class have access to the same activities and learning centers as our Monkeys and Alligators.

A rest/nap time is necessary for those busy little ones in our programs. Nap is still included in both classrooms. Mats are provided and each child is encouraged to bring a blanket and stuffed friend to sleep with.

Pre-Kindergarten Playground

Our playgrounds are specially made for the age of the children using them. This playground is shared with all children ages 3-5 years. It has everything they need to exercise, play, and even learn!

Our playground is equipped with things like a sandbox, swings, slides, and a special projects area for outdoor crafts.

We also have a garden where children learn how to grow trees, plants, and flowers. We recycle and help the kids to understand its importance during childcare.

  My kids have been going to this daycare for over 2 years and the staff feels like family. Other daycare's made me feel anxious about leaving my kids all day but my little one's teacher uses an app so I can see pictures of my kids and what crafts they are doing. Most of the time when I pick them up and they don't want to leave! I really love this place!

  I highly recommend Discoveries! We have had both of our children there since they were babies. We had a terrible experience with a different daycare with our oldest before we found Discoveries and when we switched over they made us feel right at home. We have had the best experience there and will continue to keep our kids there when they are ready for the before and after school programs. Communication is amazing and we have always felt our children have been safe and taken care of. Both kids are with teachers that we have known for years.

  I absolutely love this daycare I switched to this daycare about 3 years ago. I am so happy with the teachers and staff. I have never experienced any problems or issues.
