Welcome to our October recap! It’s hard to believe another month has flown by, and what a busy, exciting one it was. From community visits to classroom parties, our students had a wonderful time exploring, creating, and celebrating all things fall.
Firefighters, Field Trips, and Fall Fun!
We can’t believe October is already over and the holidays are just around the corner! It was such a busy (and exciting!) month here at Discoveries. The Truckee Meadows Fire Department stopped by to visit the Mustangs and Big Horns during fall break. The kids loved getting to see the fire truck up close and meeting real firefighters — thank you TMFD for an awesome visit!

Ms. Nancy and Ms. Lisa also took the Big Horns on a fun field trip to Rancho San Rafael. We walked through the beautiful Dragon Lights (they’re amazing even in the daytime!), played in the Dinosaur Park, and enjoyed a picnic lunch under one of the pavilions. It was the perfect way to soak up the fall weather and make some great memories.
Fall Fest: A Family Favorite
Our annual Fall Fest was another huge hit! We closed off the parking lot and turned it into a fun festival space filled with decorated booths, games, crafts, and even a photo booth. Families came out to play, laugh, and enjoy the crisp fall air together. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special day — we couldn’t do it without you!

Spooky Snacks and Silly Costumes
We wrapped up the month with our last Ice Cream Truck Day on October 29th and our classroom Halloween parties. The kids (and staff!) went all out with costumes and decorations.

The Mustangs had a spooky lunch of “BRAINS” (that’s spaghetti, of course) with Zombie Juice. We wrapped our friends up like mummies, played ring toss, and “pinned the eye on the monster.” Other classrooms had pizza parties and chicken nuggets — a Halloween classic! It was such a fun, laughter-filled day to end the month.
Looking Ahead
October flew by in a blur of laughter, learning, and community fun. As we head into the holiday season, we’re so grateful for our wonderful families and can’t wait for everything November will bring!
