Celebrating Fall

Fall is Special for Discovery

Celebrating fall is always part of Discoveries special time of the year. October is the time for our fall festival. The teachers and children spend time decorating and learning about fall. The leaves give us a great opportunity to see the colors in our beautiful world. Cool-weather and shorter days are part of our fall life.

Of course there is Halloween and the fun of pretending to be someone other than our usual selves. We had Halloween fun with the silly scary stuff and without the bloody gory activities.  Discoveries hosted a fun evening for the children and their families. Food and drinks were part of the festivities. All the children, teachers, and most parents were dressed in costumes for the party. Each class had special games for all to participate in. The Alligator class had a cakewalk with delicious cupcakes made by Miss Jessica. The Monkey’s class was full of balloons for the fun of popping. Panda’s class had a silly cup game and bean bag toss, everyone was a winner.  The Cubs classroom played pumpkin bowling and the Babies Caterpillars room hosted the cookie decorating. The Mustang class had fishing in the swamp, Pin the mouth on the pumpkin, and bite the ghost which looked and tasted like powdered sugar donuts. Toss the spiders was a hit with everyone. At Discoveries we like to include the parents and families in our activities as much as possible. Life these days is very busy and stressful. It is good to provide family activities for all ages.

Supporting Local Business and Community

We also like to support our local business and community. The Mustang class went on a field trip to a local farm and pumpkin patch to experience fall fun on the farm. We had a hay ride and then jumped in the hay stacks. The farm animals entertained us and the corn maze was amazing. There were games to play and a house full of dried corn to jump in. Pretend cows gave us a chance to practice milking and steer roping.  A special pizza delivery made a perfect lunch on the warm fall day. We all picked a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and went back to Discoveries school tired but happy.

Being part of the Discoveries community is rewarding and fun. November will bring more chances to help the children discover the world around them and make learning a joy. Happy Fall.
