Fire Update: Reopening Thursday, August 13
Posted Wednesday, August 12 7:00pm
To all of our families,
We wanted to share our plans for reopening and what to expect going forward.
As most of you know, we were open Monday and Tuesday this week. On Tuesday afternoon we moved into the yellow “get ready to go” zone, so we called our parents and asked them to come pick up our precious cargo. Like so many of you, we have been watching this fire closely along with the rest of the Spanish Springs community.
Since last night we have heard from several parents asking whether we will reopen and when. Many of you are nurses, police officers, and first responders, and others simply need childcare in order to get back to work.
So we have decided to reopen Thursday, August 13 at 6:30 am, with these stipulations:
- Coming in is completely optional. Please only bring your child if you feel safe doing so.
- We remain on yellow watch.
- You must be reachable and able to pick up your child right away if we call or text.
Several of our staff live close to the school, feel comfortable returning, and have already gathered their belongings in case the zone changes. Many of our families have done the same.
We know this has been a stressful week. We are glad to be able to offer this choice to those of you who need us.
